Skype crashes when i make a call.

Im on windows 7 and skype constantly crashes whenever i make a call usally 3-5 seconds in. Ive have already tried cleaning the folder and the compaliablity modes.

Having the same problem with windows shutting down a call at about 4 seconds into a call. Tried all the recommended proceedures to no avail.

No go for me. I've reinstalled (twice) both overtop, and clean. I've deleted shared.xml. The funny thing is Skype was working fine a few days ago, then a friend of mine began experiencing it on his computer, could not fix it, and finally had to install on another machine. A few days later, I began getting it. I'm using the latest version of Skype 5.5.59.124. I've changed nothing, didn't even reboot the machine..didn't unplug the headset, nothing. It just started one day. Windows 7 x64.

Repost:

To the guy/girl who made this Thank you, but you forgot one part.

1. Open Run
2. Type

%appdata%\Skype  

From here you will go to skype folder (FolderRoaming)

3. Find the file named Shared.xml, and the Shared.lck , then delete them.

4. Log on to skype again, it should work normally.

5. If that does not work, go back and check again to make sure the files still aren't there.

This worked for me, but make sure you empty your recycle bin before trying to open skype or else you will have to redo the delete.
