Skype crashes when I try to connect with one of my contacts

I've uninstalled and reinstalled the application with no luck!!  I can log in but the minute I click on a contact to talk to it crashes and closes the program!

same thing for me. I can't stay on skype for longer than two minutes without it closing

Mine is also doing the same thing. I can sign in and I can IM back and forth but as soon as my friends or myself try calling each other it says there is a problem and closes me down. I don't understand it. I have also installed and deleted it and reinstalled. Even checked for updates. And made sure all settings are correct.

every time i click on one of my im friends i get an error and it logs out...this is some bs

What is going on?!  I haven't had a problem until tonight and every time I try to make or connect to a video call with one of my contacts, Skype crashes!!!  This is the only communication I have with my family for my children to see the grandparents and it is extremely disappointing.  If this keeps up I'm going back to yahoo video chat!  I've uninstalled, reinstalled, checked all my settings and firewalls and everything is fine!

Same here! It's working on my phone but on windows it crashes and crashes.

the same thing happens to me. i've unistalled it and then reinstalled and it still keeps crashing. i'd really like to know what's going on.

Same thing happens to me, its really annoying and i am amazed there hasnt been any word from Skype. it could only be worse if it crashed when trying to open in general.

64 Bit Windows 7, its allowed through the firewall, its 5.5 version, my drivers are all up to date, skype is just broken. Im going to try the Beta 5.7 to see if that has the same problem.

EDIT: Yup , so far its working just right. Heres the forum with the solution in more detail, but basically just DL the Beta Skype 5.7
