If you don’t want to install 5.7 Beta now, then you will have to wait a couple of days until Skype will fix the error with the animated ads. The other thing you can do is to change in Skype the view mode to Compact View, close the Home page and Quit Skype. Next time you start Skype, you will not see the Home page with the ads and Skype should work. However, any time you will try to activate the Home page, Skype may crash.

just a quick question, i have win vista and recently i've been getting calls on my skype from NOTIFICATION.ON.LINE.USER idk them so i block the thinking skype would have no reason to be calling me. well now since i blocked every name they call under my skype shuts down for no reason and i uninstalled and re-installed it and its still doing the same thing. can anyone plz help....

I had the same issue on Skype. It kept crashing when I opened it and make a call. I just installed the beta version and it worked fine. Looks like a compatibility issue with the old version 5.6.

Had same issue with Skype closing after 30 seconds or so. This only began after the usual weekly set of Windows updates. Downloaded the beta and Skype seems to be working. Fingers crossed it continues...

What do you have against the Beta version? It works fine for me & seems to have completely resolved the crash on Windows 7.

I don't want a Beta version and reading the posts, for some people the Beta version is not working either...

Beta versions are beta for a reason, one of them  that many bugs have not being dealt with...
