Skype Update not working ?

My skype trava frequentemente e tenho que reiniciar o computador. Não consigo atualizar o skype, recebo a mensagem "A VERSÃO ANTIGA DO SKYPE 5.5 NÃO PÔDE SER REMOVIDA. ENTRE EM CONTATO COM SEU ADMINISTRADOR DE SISTEMA". Como resover?

I received a notice to update my Skype when I did this now when I try to sign in the page comes up but it is blank?? Can someone please help I am new to this and not sure how this all works?

Please, answer first these questions:

What version of Windows are you on? Is it 32-bit or 64-bit?

Go to Windows Start and in the Search box type winver.exe and then press Enter.

What is the version of Internet Explorer installed on your computer?

In Internet Explorer go to Help -> About Internet Explorer

Version says 6.1 and I am using ATT explorer. I just skyped last night and now this morning I can't use it ever since I clicked to update. It also everytime I click on the icon asks if I want to allow program to change things on my computer or hard drive.

Sorry, but it is not possible to provide you with any advice before you have answered the above questions. The procedure is very different for 32 and 64-bit Windows systems.

Also the version of your Internet Explorer is important. I don’t know what do you mean by that you have ATT Explorer.

Start your Internet Explorer, click on the Help menu and then on the “About Internet Explorer” item. This will show you the version of Internet Explorer installed on your computer.

I click on Update in the help menu and I get a message saying that there is a new version of Skype to download. I click and get the small window "Skype-Update" with the words

"Downloading"  "Please wait while an update for Skype is being downloaded" "Initializing..." and then it just sits there doing nothing. I've let it sit for about half an hour and nothing happens.

My Skype (under Tools, Options..., Advanced, Automatic updates) is set to update automatically.  To my knowledge it has never done this.

I regularly check Help, Check for Updates and often find there is a new update available.  I simply follow the instructions and get updated.

Most of my contacts never check for updates and this causes communication problems.  Should everyone regularly check for updates and update manually... or is there a way to get the "automatic update" function to update automatically?

Help please!
