Skype Refuses to Install

Downloaded the installer (SkypeSetup.exe) and ran it.

After prompting me for language/terms and conditions, it swaps to a "Installing Skype" window with a moving green bar.  "Please wait while Skype is installed."

It will remain like this indefinitely.  I can't even exit the installer properly.  When I close it, it warns me that I will have to restart the installation in the future, but then doesn't actually close.  I have to end the process manually.

I've rebooted the machine, I've re-downloaded the installer, it has Admin rights when it runs.

I'm at a loss for how to get this to work properly.

Having the same issue, been trying for over an hour. Have tried the same steps as well. Hope someone answers soon.

I am sorry to hear that you are having troubles installing Skype. Our developers are currently investigating the problem. Unfortunately I can't tell you when this issue will be fixed.

Same issue here. System is Windows 7, acts like it is installing but never completes.

Same problem... Install window does not end installation, does not close, and if i force closing, "skype is not responding"

It seems our engineers have identified the cause of the download problems and are working on deploying a fix.
Situation should improve in the next hours.

For the last t two days, I have tried to reinstall SKYPE, all I get is that  "we are having trouble with our download server t ry another download site.  I tried and tried and still I get the same message as above!
