Skype Name not found

I've tried adding 3 different friends who's nicknames I know and I can't for some reason.

I keep getting the "Skype Name not found" and "No matches found" for the full name. 

What ever happened to the old way of searching for people? I haven't used Skype in a while, but I remember adding contacts was easier. Did you have to change it and make it more complicated and frustating? I mean, there was nothing wrong with it, did you do it on purpose just to annoy people?

Have you checked your connection status? Is it "Online"?

There should be a warning or something for us 'idiots' that don't use Skype that often.

Hi everyone

I have the same problem since today.  I can't find the people I am looking for and I am absolutely sure their Skype name is correct.  It keeps telling me 'Skype Name not Found'  The same for email and full name.  My status is 'online'.

YES, you must be online to add contacts!!!!
Immediately i went online, i recieved the contact request and visa versa... they recieved mine!!!

I have given my skype name to people who want to add me to their contacts, but my Skype name if is not found when they do a search.

I have also tried searching for my Skype name and it is not found.

My Skype name and my proper name are set to public in my profile.

How can this be resolved please?

If your Skype Name is ”parbrook”, then there is no problem with searching for your Skype Name using the ”Add a contact” window. Have you entered your Skype Name in the “Skype Name” textbox of the “Add a contact” window and is your connection status on Skype Online? The status icon next to your name must be solid green with a white checkmark inside.
