Skype Home unavailable after downloading upgrade

I  logged on to Skype and received a message to download the latest update.  I did so, but now am unable to connect.  The screen says "Skype home is unavailable at the moment. Try back later."  I re-started the computer, but no change.  I double checked w a friend who was online, but on my side, it said he was offline and & could not click on the video or phone to call him.  Has anybody else experienced this?

Is your connection status on Skype Online? The status icon must be solid green with a white checkmark inside. Try to change the status using the dropdown arrow next to this icon.

I thought I had double checked that several times, but evidentially had not.  That took care of it...feel pretty silly now, but glad to get the answer nonetheless! thankyou!

Cannot sign in now after an upgrade! just keeps saying 'Skype cannot connect'! Please help!!

I too have the same problem after upgrading but, using the features in the dropdown box does not cure the problem and I am still getting the message that Skype Home is unavailable at the moment. What can I do to correct this?

What is the version of Internet Explorer Installed on your computer? In Internet Explorer go to Help -> About Internet Explorer.

What do you see when you open this link in your Internet Explorer (must be Ie 32-bit version, even if you are using another browser)?

P.S. Please, don’t say that you are not using Internet Explorer. This is irrelevant. Skype depends on Internet Explorer.

Hi I have tried to log in x2 now and have just read the message re the on line tick I have now done that and did the online test and it said I have configured properly.

My problem is that every body else show as off line. and I cant raise anybody on video call the symbol stays frosted out. and I dont even get the ringing signal. very annoying.....

For 2-3 days now, I've been waiting for "Skype Home" to be available, but when trying to call anyway red bars appear.  A click on them informs me I'm offline, to reconnect to the internet.  I've done this repeatedly, both my wi-fi and landline connections.  They both work when accessing any other websites.  I've studied your FAQs, help sections, whatever I could find on skype.com.  One says to check online in online status menu, which I did repeatedly.  No effect.  I've gone into the tools > internet options to find site blockages -- none found.  I'm out of ideas after quite some hours.  PLEASE HELP!  Skype has been wonderful so far, but this is very disturbing and prevents many needed calls.  Thank you for your time and attention.
