Re: Skype has stopped working (Windows 7)

Hi,

Could anyone please help me sort the issue with Skype. Every time I sign in I get an widows error stating that Skype has stopped working, terminating the program.

Regards.

Re: Skype has stopped working (Windows 7)

The only thing that worked so far to me was to revert back to the old 6.1.0.129 version. Which, of course, your servers don't provide anymore and people have to look on third party websites to find and download it.

It's got to be said, that you failed miserably, Skype Team, at your job, requiring the users to search far and wide for POSSIBLE causes of, what basically is your negligence and releasing an unstable product. What you do is say: "Well, yeah, it crashes and we don't really know what is wrong, try a bunch of these things, and MAYBE it'll work. But we added some new ads and one or two social media links, so here!".

No autoupdates from now on. I just hope that you won't have another streak of brilliant thinking and disable connection for old versions.

I won't provide download links, as the files may be taken down anytime. Use Google and pray to whichever god you prefer that you're lucky.

Cheers.

Re: Skype has stopped working (Windows 7)

I'll add myself to the masses struggling with this problem.

I have tried all the tricks suggested in this thread, but still having the same problem.

The PC in question is Win7 Pro x86, fully patched and up-to-date. Using Skype version 6.14.0.104. It doesn't use NVidia graphics, so the suggestions of this being the cause can be ruled out.

I have run scans using McAfee and Malwarebytes, both of which we use all the time. I've rebooted, uninstalled, reinstalled, renamed the various program and temp folders, but to no avail.

Come on Skype support, it's time these problems were sorted.

Look for driver update for Intel G41 Express Chipset display adapter.

Test also if  Skype will still crash if you uninstall your VoIPvoice USB Phone.
