Just want to add that I too am having the same problem. Skype starts and runs but soon as I try to do anything with it is crashes. Version 188.8.131.52 on Windows 7 64 bit.
I will try the uninstall and delete appdata folder but this look to be just a temporary fix.
The quickest method currently to resolve this, is to install over what you have. using the beta release here: http://skype.com/go/getskype-beta
Is there a solution to this yet? Entrust is still causing problems with the latest skype version. I tried the beta and wiping appdata but the only reliable solution is uninstalling Entrust.
