Skype 5.5.0.124 crashes after running for short period of time

I have been having the same problem. Unfortunately I cannot give details of my experience, as the "recommended fix" is constantly installing the "newest version", which I am on.

Okay...I found more details. Only when I click conversations, or open a message, it crashes. If I leave it at HOME, it stays fine, since it has been for over a half an hour or so.

having same problems with 5.5.0.124 as reported above. Updated to 124 version one or two days ago on 3 home computers. Had good Skype session last evening but this afternoon could not video connect on any computer...would initially connect for about 30 seconds voice and video and then crash. Long time user w/o previous issues and not running "Entrust" which seems to be suspect with other users.

I'm having the same problem. I downloaded .124 yesterday and now whenever I go into a contact/conversation, it crashes.

However, I AM NOT RUNNING ENTRUST. Never have. So the problem is more broad than that.

Same issue and i am also not runing entrust. It seems to be working fine on my webOS touchpad and same for Android. It would apear that this problem is strictly on the desktop side. Anyone out there got any ideas?

i have the same problem. i am not running entrust. i have windows 7 laptop with kaspersky virus protection.

My Skype has been having this problem tonight. It worked two days ago, when I did a video call for some time (maybe 2 hours?). Today, whenever I try to do anything, like place a call, or even edit my profile, I get a message that says Skype has stopped working. The details read as follows:

I do not have Entrust. I tried updating to make sure I had the newest version, rebooting my computer, and uninstalling and reinstalling Skype. I still have the same problem. I am not a person who knows/understands much about computers. I'm hoping someone can help me to get my Skype to work again. Thanks for any help.

Ok guys. Just update to beta 5.7 As that seems to have solved my problem. It has been open for 3 mins now and i can send and recieve messages with no crash.

I've been having the same problems.  I have Norton anitvirus as well as Spybot S&D running in the background, but it hasn't had a deal with Skype at all.  I've tried all the guidelines to get past the problem, but again, the best option is to "uninstall and redownload Skype" and it hasn't helped at all.

Seems like I'm one of many people with this problem.  I Skyped 2 days ago with no problems and haven't downloaded anything new since.  Hope Skype is aware and working on this.
