Several Contacts Frequently Appear Offline When They Are Online

I use skype for gaming and a lot of the time we'll have large conversations with six people in one call.

So usually it's not a problem because if one contact for me appears to be offline, one of the people that im currrently talking to in the call will notify me that the person is online or just came online.

Plus, as soon as they add that specific contact to the call, they then appear online for me.

I think its just a bug, but it could be a very big problem. I have 20 different contacts and once I signed on to Skype, and ALL of them appeared to be offline. I told my friends on the PS3 that I was on skype... I appeared offline for them too. They added me to the call anyway.

As soon as they added me to the call, 5 different contacts appeared online for me at the same time.

This has to be a really common bug that's been around for a while. Because I can confirm other people having it too. It happens on my Windows XP desktop and also on my Windows 7 Laptop.

Before trying to isolate an issue, it's always best that one is running the latest Skype release. Which may in itself resolve the issue.

Having some coworkers that have the similar Problem Running latest skype, Windows 7 SP1

Most either Appear offline or when a message is sent the action spinner just spins and the message is never sent/recieved.

Some of contact When they do appear online also do not recieve messages.

This is on multiple systems.

Well I've updated to 5.5.0.113. Not really liking it because there's no quick volume tool... but that's another post.. the contacts seem to be working so far..

i am running skype 5.5.0.119 and can confirm this still happens. And the contacts it happens with, also have skype 5.5.0.119

In Cambodia, I found my friend often appear offline to me. The same thing happen to them. Sometime we are both online but the other end still see my offline. What's going in Skype.com?

I want to suppress being notified when a contact comes online (or goes off).  I tried using notification settings, as in help, but that had no effect.  What preference to I need to set?  Is there a test (as in testcall)?

Hi, I'm using version 5.5.0.124. I'm on Windows 7 x64.

I've made sure my friend had the most recent version as well.

We're both ONLINE, we have mutual friends who appear ONLINE, but we're both Offline to each other. It's until we try and call each other on Skype that the status turns online. This has been happening for a few weeks already.
