Re: SKYPE WON'T SIGN IN!! ;-;

A quick update on this. I tried using the old version (5.0 & 4.2) but the resutls're the same. After sign in the screen just hang and after a while it says "skype not responding".

I beleive this is something else rather than with skype..may be a third party software conflicting with skype..

I saw Skype need Flash. Now exploring the options with flash.. incidentally updated flash last week together with skype.. Will post if there is any+ve findings..

Skype not responding is not the same issue the original poster here has.  In his case Skype is not connecting.    Your error indicates Skype is actually freezing/crashing.

I'd look in Win 7's Event Viewer for errors with a time stamp when not responding happened.   Why don't you post all your details, including any errors, in a new thread since you really have a different issue.

edit:  Also, if you search for "not responding" on this forum you'll see a bunch of threads concerning that specific error message.

Windows 7. Latest version of Skype. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling skype countless times, even going as far as deleting all traces of Skype from my computer through RegEdit and I tried renaming the folders before that. I have no antivirus or firewall. Compatability mode is not enabled. I have cleared my internet explorer cache. The live chat people have been useless, two of them totally blew me off and gave up after realizing they didn't know how to help. :{

I have the same issue, Skype 5.8.0.156 fails to connect everytime. I've tried the troubleshooting in the thread.

The wierd thing is that it connected fine yesterday but checking for updates again should have resulted in a "You are already using the latest version of Skype" dialog instead I got a "Skype cannot check for updates" dialog.

On the plus side the Skype Portable trick worked for me which would suggest the issue lies with the 5.8 update.

Re: SKYPE WON'T SIGN IN!! ;-;

Ok.  I don't understand what should be causing that to happen and it may (or may not) be at the root of why Skype can't connect.  I'm wondering if it's something buried in your networking setup in Windows.

I'll continue scratching my head and if I come up with anything further, I'll be back.  Otherwise, again, I hope you somehow fix a fix.

What Internet Security program do you use?

The Firewall in NIS 2012 wasn't letting Skype have access to the internet. I wonder if there were changes that were made to Skype that caused the issue.
