I am trying a webcam/skype for the first time. I got a webcam and it was awful so I in turn got another. It is clear voice wise and picture wise but after it makes connection, we either see each other frozen or after a few seconds the connection is dropped. My friend has no problem video calling others even outside the USA. I have not tried it with anyone else but the other webcam did the same. I assumed it was the webcam and the sound was terrible anyway. I have a good one now and the voice is excellent and I can see a small picture of myself. I sometimes get her picture frozen and then connection is lost.
Can anyone help. The webcam people said it should work and my broadband provider also said it should work but want to charge me to try to help. What if anything is wrong? What's with the Firewall upgrade I read?

What version of Windows do you have? XP? Vista? Win 7?
What version of Skype is installed? Click on Help > About Skype for the version number.
What make/model webcam?
