I've been searching for the past 2 days for a solution without any breakthrough. I have skype and when im in a call, the other person can hear my audio on my PC as well as the audio from my microphone (me speaking).
I am using a headset and I have independently ran skype audio settings and windows audio settings side by side and windows has no sound from microphone (mic) yet skype does as it's listening to a youtube video or music.
This is very annoying as it causes messages to circle in the headsets and high pitch screeching pulsing (on and off like a table tennis ball getting hit back and forth) which becomes deathening and then suddenly disappears.
-Windows 7 Ultimate
-Headset with built in microphone (all audio plays through the headset and I've checked the headset wasn't the cause through windows microphone (control panel>hardware and sounds>sounds>recording(tab) as there was no recording (green peak) yet I've had the sound from youtube in background and skype was picking that up under microphone in the audio settings)
EDIT: I have re-installed skype but same problem.
In the menu bar, click Tools > Options > Audio Settings. Do you have it set for Skype to Auto adjust your microphone settings and speaker settings? Do you have the correct Mic and Speakers selected?
In Advanced Options make sure you have your audio devices in order of preference. Skype will use the first available one on each list.
I have read this in many previous forums and the answer is I have tried it all.
I have skype automatically manage the speaker and microphone and I have unticked that and managed it for myself to no avail (same problems, @tm it is ticked again).
I have moved them to the very top of the list and even gone into the windows settings and disabled all other options so that it cannot choose anything else.
I am looking for a new method to fix my problem, not a copy of something repeated many times over the internet in these forums as I can easily find that response. Thankyou for your help Beowolfv and input but it didn't help me unfortunately.
Again the problem is it is sending both sound from the speakers (PC noises such as youtube, itunes and warning sounds when deleting an item) and input from the microphone to the person in the chat. I want to only send my microphone. I don't have "playback through speakers" on and I have checked everything which normally is the cause. Windows detects that only the microphone is recording input and is definably not recording the output via the speakers and so the problem is definably in Skype settings somewhere so I can see where your response would be handy but this isn't the case for me.
@tm = at the moment.
