peakview09 wrote:Me too!! Checked everything as per the info, taken hours -sorry Skype over to you! I even tried uninstalling and re-installing, have double checked speakers, microphones, pc settings etc. Sound and microphone on everything except SKYPE!! Oh by the way it is only Incoming Skype - I can see my callers, they can see and hear me only I can't see them!
I can play the sounds in test mode but can't make a test call.
What do you see for Speakers settings in Tools -> Options -> Audio settings?
Can you hear any sound when you press the green test button?

Hi Peakview09,
I am presuming you have a Windows7 program. If so right click on your Sound icon next to the clock in the lower task bar. Choose Audio speakers. In the open area of that window right click, if the two small windows that appear are not checked, check them. If you have speaker jacks in the front and in the back, try moving them to see if your sound returns.
I have enclosed a picture of what the Sound window looks like when you do that right click technique.
I hope that helps you out.
David

Was able to hear just fine last evening with Skype. Today, nothing. Computer was not shut down, no updates or changes made, and all other audio works just fine.
Windows 7 here. Went through all of the steps shown in this thread just now. Nothing. Uninstalled, re-installed Skype. Nothing. Anyone have a solid fix for this?
TIA.

I had the same problem. The following worked for me (assuming it's not a driver issue):
-Right click on your sound icon in the tray bar (bottom right)
-Click Playback devices
-Right click in blank section and ensure "Show disable devices" is enabled
-Enable devices if needed
-Open Skype
-Tools->Options->Audio settings
-Select various Speaker options and click the green play button to test
-Save changes once you found a speaker device that plays sound

Hi deldbrown,
So glad it worked for you. Can get frustrating when everything else has been tried and the obvious is just sitting there.
