No pound on keypad

I am phoning a conference line and am asked to enter an access code followed by the pound. I finally found how to get the keypad, but it has no pound sign. I have tried both the star and the hash sign, but they do not work. None of the keys on my computer keyboard seem to help either.

If I bring up the dial pad during a call it clearly has a # key.

If you don't see this, what version of Skype are you running?  Click on Help > About Skype for the specific version number.

I get the keypad, exactly as in the diagram. I have tried using the # key, but this is not accepted.

Ah.  Unfortunately, it seems that sometimes Skype generated touch-tones don't register well with some networks.  I've had the same problem with other VoIP providers.

The only thing I can suggest you try is mute your mic before making entries on the dial pad.  If that doesn't help, I'm out of ideas.  Maybe someone else will chime in with a suggestion that works.

that is useful information, but unfortunately it is not useful here

the poster really is trying to generate the touchtone for the # key, which is known as the 'pound' or 'hash' key, and the issue is that, in spite of what you may think, the generation of touchtones is NOT well-standardized WORLD-WIDE, and it further complicated when attempting to make it work over a VOIP connection

small consolation I know, but generally it works well for MOST of the automated systems encountered
