No login screen and crashes upon start up

http://prntscr.com/2aaomb

For the longest time I've been using Skype on my PC without issues. Lately it hasn't had the ability to even pull up the login screen. It keeps crashing everytime I try to open up and I've tried every solution that has been suggested...I'm pretty much stumped. Anyone know what could fix this?

Re: No login screen and crashes upon start up

Open Windows Event Viewer -> Custiom Views -> Administrative Events. Look for any recent error messages with timestamp corresponding to Skype crash. Copy and påaste here the text from the General tab.

[ Edited ]

The problem is with your Inernet Explorer installation.

Try now to uninstall IE11 and reinstall IE9.

In order to uninstall IE11 you should go to Windows Control Panel -> Program and Features -> View installed updates -> Microsoft Windows -> Windows Internet Explorer 11.

http://techdows.com/2012/11/how-to-downgrade-from-ie10-to-ie9-or-ie8-windows-7.html

Just look for IE11 instead of IE10.

Also you should try to update your Skype to a more recent version. Try first with the 6.9.0.106 update:

Re: No login screen and crashes upon start up

Try first this:

Go to Windows Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> Right click on Command Prompt, select 'Run as administrator'.

In the Command Prompt type:  cd c:\windows\syswow64 and press Enter.

Next type this and then press Enter:

regsvr32  jscript.dll

Next type this and press Enter:

regsvr32  jscript9.dll

After each Enter you should receive a message saying that DllRegisterServer in XXX.dll succeeded.

Reboot your computer.

Make now the test showing if your Internet Explorer can execute JavaScript.

Open in your Internet Explorer (no other browser but only IE 32-bit version) this page:

http://www.mistered.us/test/alert.shtml

Click on the “Simply Click This Button” button and watch the response.

Re: No login screen and crashes upon start up

Can you see now that your Internet Explorer can execute JavaScript?

Also, try this:

Quit Skype or use Windows Task Manager to kill any Skype.exe process.

Open this folder on your computer:

C:\ProgramData\Skype\Apps\

You should see there a subfolder named login. Try to rename this folder to something different, e.g. login_old.

Restart Skype.

Open again the C:\ProgramData\Skype\Apps\ folder and see if the login subfolder is now recreated.

Re: No login screen and crashes upon start up

It works now. I remember doing this method before my skype began to crash alot. The folder did not recreate another login folder and kept the renamed one.
