Neither of us can see the other as "online". [ Edited ]

Hi,

A friend of mine (who uses ubuntu) and I were skyping the last few days while she's abroad. However, yesterday and today when we tried to chat, neither of us could see the other online. We both appeared offline, despite being signed in. This is really frustrating as it worked fine from Friday last until Teusday, but has suddenly stopped. I've done the latest upgrade. Any ideas?

Just an update. It's ONLY this friend that this is happening with. All other contacts appear on and offline as normal. She's not blocked or anything either.

it sounds to me like your friend's chosen status is OFFLINE, which literally means she is disconnected from the Skype network -- if that's the case she won't be able to do a test call to echo123 either, and if she has other Skype contacts. they will all appear offline too

if she had inadvertently set her own status to Invisible, that would explain why you SEE her as offline, but not why she sees YOU as offline

what status does she see for HERSELF (above her contact list and to the left of her own name)?

oh wait, she's using Ubuntu -- I don't recall exactly where her own status is displayed on the Linux client currently (it's been awhile since I looked at the Linux client), but I'm sure you can sort that out

We've also bot uninstalled and re-installed Skype.
