[Need help] Empty sign in window.

[ Edited ]

Hello, not so long ago (yesterday), I got this problem - whenever I turn on skype I just get empty window, and I can't sign in. I've re-installed it many times, in addition to that, it started after that 5.9 update. I'm using Windows XP SP3, 32-bit, IE7.

I'd really appreciate your help.

Re: [Need help] Empty sign in window.

The first thing you should do is to update your Internet Explorer to the latest version for Windows XP - IE8.

P.S. Please, don’t say that you are not using Internet Explorer. This is irrelevant. Skype depends on Internet Explorer.

To be honest, I don't use IE, but I heard that Skype needs it somehow.
P.S. Updating IE at the moment.

Make now the test showing if your Internet Explorer can execute JavaScript.

Open in your Internet Explorer (no other browser but only IE) this page:

www.mistered.us/test/alert.shtml

Click on the “Simply Click This Button” button and watch the response.

Re: [Need help] Empty sign in window.

OK. Try this:

Quit Skype. Make sure that you don’t see any Skype.exe processes in Windows Task Manager. If necessary, then stop these processes.

Open this folder on your computer

C:\Program Files\Skype\Phone\

Right click on the Skype.exe file and select: Send to – Desktop (create shortcut). Right click on the newly created shortcut and select Properties and then the Shortcut tab. In the Target field you will see now: "C:\Program Files\Skype\Phone\Skype.exe". Click with your mouse on the text in the Target field and move your curser one space after the last quotation sign and add the text /legacylogin. The text in the Target field should now read:

"C:\Program Files\Skype\Phone\Skype.exe" /legacylogin

Click OK to save the changes. Start Skype using this new shortcut. Can you now login to Skype?

I have the same problem. But I can't update my IE cause it says I have a newer version on my PC. How do I get it now?
