@ humpbax If you see Windows version 6.1.7600 on the black screen (the Command Prompt), then this means that you have Windows 7 but without Service Pack 1 (SP1) installed. Try to update your Windows to the latest service pack first.

If you will still experience problems with Skype login screen, then please, answer first these questions:

What version of Windows are you on? Is it 32-bit or 64-bit?

What are you seeing on the Skype window?

After I sign in, it stays on the welcome page.  No Menu Bar appears.  I can't get started skyping at all.

Are you sure that you are not signing in to your Account page on Skype.com? This will not work. You must use Skype program installed on your computer and not the Account page.

i too am experiencing the above problem. New to Skype. How do in get to the program log in rather than the account page it takes me to.!!!

I have an IMac and my menu bar is missing too.It is a common problem I read here and not only on Macs. Cant your computerengineers do sth. about it?
