Good Evening,
I have been using the most-current version of Skype on my computer for some time and have had no issues. Currently, I'm working in Korea, where I've had no previous problems with Skype. Over the last two days however, incoming video has frozen and then ceased altogether without affecting outgoing video and two-way voice communications. Each time I experience this problem, I receive a "Dx Error 0x8876017C." message. The connection then is lost however is subsequently restored, again however, without incoming video. I have fully removed and reinstalled Skype twice and have also performed Windows service pack updates, yielding only a temporary solution. While I thought I had it fixed, the problem reoccurred yet again.
I appreciate any insight/assistance you can provide in troubleshooting and correcting this problem.

What version of Windows are you running?
Click start > search (or run) and type dxdiag.exe <enter>
What version of DirectX does it show you're running?
Any errors reported on any of the tabs?

Operating on DirectX version 11. I experienced the problem again last night and, after shutting down the computer and restarting the computer, everything is working fine. The Dx system check shows no errors at this time. I'll continue to operate Skype and if/when I experience another malfunction, I'll reaccomplish the Dx system check and reply back with the results.
In the mean time, I've seen a similar post show up on this board since I started this one. Could there be a bug in this version and if so, can we still download the previous version?

Ok. You said you're using "the latest" version. If you click on Help > About Skype does it show v5.8.0.156 which is the actual latest version?
If not, I suggest you update via the install from this link:
http://www.skype.com/go/getskype-full
And yes, you can download older version from this website:
http://www.oldapps.com/skype.php
However, I don't think there have been nearly enough DirectX problems reported recently to suspect a bug in the latest version.

Well, after a few minutes of good voice and video, the system temporarily locked up, the Dx Error 0x886017C notice posted and eventually Skyped recovered the call less incoming video. I ran the DX diagnosis and again, all components post no errors. I am using version v5.8.0.156. Again, I've had no problems operating skype on this computer for over 1.5 years prior to this issue. What other courses of troubleshooting/repairing do you recommend. Thanks again.

Do you have Internet Explorer 9 installed ?
Look in Windows Event Viewer, Administrative Events for any errors with a time stamp coinciding with when the problem happened. Copy and paste any such error report here.

IE9 may correct your error. You can install it and if, for some reason, it causes any problems you can always uninstall it an revert to IE8.
To start Event Viewer click on Start and in the Search progreams box type eventvwr.msc <enter>. Then click on Custom Views > Administrative Events. Look in the Date and Time column for a time coninciding with a Skype problem.
