I push on "sign in to skype" I waiting more or less 5 minutes and I get announcement "connection is fail"
I tried to connect with another user and to reinstall and the problem is back

The problem has been fixed !
Initial troubleshooting by completely de-installing and re-installing Skype with 5.10 and the latest version did not help.
I have the Windows 7 firewall and Norton.
When I completed the last attempt of installing 5.10 after following the instructions given here: https://support.skype.com/en/faq/FA10634/How-can-I-completely-uninstall-and-then-reinstall-Skype?
and the installation was completing, I noticed a Norton pop-up stating that it had blocked Skype !!! Probably something that came with an auto update. I went into Norton "history" which listed Skype as blocked. I highlighted that line then on 'more info' and got the option to unblock Skype. Then signed on to Skype and voila - I'm operational again.

After having been prompted to install an upgrade I can no longer use Skype as I keep getting the "Skype can't connect" after entering my password. Skype worked perfectly before that.
I have deinstalled and reinstalled 5.10 but have the same problem.
Running Windows 7 with up-to-date drivers and have absolutely no other problems. Internet is working fine. I frequently buy phone credit to make calls and currently have credit on my account. Any help to get Skype working again would be greatly appreciated.
I'm having the exact same issues! After the last "upgrade" I can no longer sign into skype and am getting the same error msg. THe only difference is that I'm using Vista. I'm deleted and reinstalled, I have even attempted reinstalling an older version of Skype with no success. Have you figured out the problem??
I'm having the same issue...it worked fine for months and the next day... Skype can't connect.
I am not using ANY firewalls or anything on my computer.
To the blog moderator! I am pretty miffed at how poorly skype is working. I am getting the same "cannot connect" message. I actually thought I could depend on this product to be somewhat reliable after actually paying for a phone number etc.
Can you guys please get your act together?
I am running wondows 7, macafee and have all upgrades installed.
And need to get things done versus be talking to you about why your product is not performing.
CORRECTION - I have McAfee installed on mine
You need to configure McAfee’s Firewall to allow Skype traffic or completely disable it.
