Hey I just updated my version of Skype and for some reason I can type my username and password but no matter how hard I try, I cannot click the sign in button, it's been disabled somehow? also I can't even check the automatic sign-in or even starting Skype when the computer starts. I already tried deleting the "shared.xml" file, and tried uninstalling and reinstalling Skype, and even tried a different version of Skype. I am running Windows XP if that makes a difference. Anyone have other suggestions for me to try?
Quit Skype. Make sure that you don’t see any Skype.exe processes in Windows Task Manager. If necessary, then stop these processes. Open C:\Program Files\ folder. If you have 64-bit Windows then it should be C:\Program Files (x86)\ folder. Find the Skype folder and then Phone. Right click on the Skype.exe file and select: Send to – Desktop (create shortcut). Right click on the newly created shortcut and select the Shortcut tab. In the Target field you will see now: "C:\Program Files\Skype\Phone\Skype.exe" (or with (x86) if you are on 64-bit Windows). Click with your mouse on the text in the Target field and move your curser one space after the last quotation sign and add the text /legacylogin. The text in the Target field should now read:
"C:\Program Files\Skype\Phone\Skype.exe" /legacylogin
Click OK to save the changes. Start Skype using this new shortcut. Can you now login to Skype?
Blue cloud window pops up, but nothing loads.
Do you have all necessary Windows Updates? What version of Internet Explorer is installed on your computer? What do you see when you open this page in your Internet Explorer (must be Internet Explorer even if you are using another browser!!)?
Brilliant! That worked. Thanks for the tip. Although I am glad to see it working again, what is the reason? I can't see the logic.
