Hello! Problems on installing skype on windows XP

Hi All!

I have a problem on installing skype on windows XP. I recently reinstalled my windows and now i get this error: "Downloading Skype - We are having problems connecting to the download server. To download an alternative installer for Skype, click the "Download" button."

Does anyone knows if this problems are really on skype download servers or into my pc

I will attach a picture with my error.

yes it is working.I had the same problem too and installing "skype business" works.!

Just a small clarification. The .msi installer referred to by g4pilut is not the “Business version” but the “normal” version. You can still use this version to connect to Facebook. You can’t do this with business version. The business version does not install the Updater service, the “normal” version does.

+1 having the same problem on XP.

Even after completely removing all vestiges of the original Skype (which has worked well since forever, complete with automatic updates) it is impossible to install the latest version.

There is a loop:

Successfully download the small installer (SkypeSetup.exe version 5.10.0.116 925KB) from the website.

Start:

On execution, SkypeSetup.exe fails and says:

"We are having problems connecting to the download server

To download an alternative installer for Skype, click the "Download" button".

Clicking the download button successfully downloads SkyperSetupFull.exe (version 5.10.0.116 25,051KB)

SkypeSetupFull.exe also fails and says

"We are having problems connecting to the download server
To download an alternative installer for Skype, click the "Download" button".

Clicking the download button successfully downloads the small installer SkyperSetup.exe (version 5.10.0.116 25,051KB) again

Goto Start:

What's going on? Looking at all the other posts this seems to be a real and systemic problem. Nothing has changed in the system setup apart from regular windows updates. Of these, Skype is the only one which systematically failed for weeks now.

A comment from Skype tech assistance would be appreciated.

i gave you the offline installer. just click on the link i have given above, and download it on your "desktop"

when you got it, double click on it (run) and start installation.

Note That: Check your proxy settings and clear your browser cache, Temporary disable Antivirus / Firewall. You can reactivate your Antivirus / Firewall after downloading or installation. You may try another browser and also try resetting your browser settings and restarting your router.

If NOTHING helps then you can try with this MSI installer

Alternatively, You can download ANY versions of Skype from OldApps.com

The MSI route worked. However the .exe's do not.
