Hello? HELLO! Anybody Home at SkypIn trouble shooting?

[ Edited ]

I know this is strictly speaking not the right place to post but I first became aware of a problem with online numbers/SkypeIn around 3 weeks ago; basically calls were not being delivered but were ringing for the caller and then going to VM.

I chatted to support then who advised me of a fix involving signing out, deleting an xml configuration file and then signing back in and messing with some privacy settings, sitting around for 5 minutes then doing somethig else.  This is unfortunatly a procedure I have been through many times subsequently since the problem comes back.

Looking around the forum a great number of other people are now experiencing the same problem.

But there has been no official acknowledgement of this whatsoever, and the Skype Heartbeat page makes no mention of the issue.

Does anybody in an official capacity know about this? Is anybody working on a proper solution? Is anybody actually paying attention?  Not good enough, Grrrrrrrrr.:manfrustrated:

Hello,

Yes this is a known issue and is being addressed. It is frustrating, I agree. The raised bug report is still open which means that the issue is being worked on but is not yet resolved. I have requested a fix just as quickly as possible. Please accept our apologies for the inconvenience.

Re: Hello? HELLO! Anybody Home at SkypIn trouble shooting?

Thanks.  I have no clue where to find to how to interpret the Skype bug tracking system, but appreciate the confirmation that this serious issues has been logged.

However, I remain annoyed that the problem has not been flagged on the Skype Heartbeat page, which has been a reliable source of problems with the system for many, many years.

Is the page not being maintained anymore?  That would be very regrettable in my view, but if that is the case it should be taken down/offline right now.

As it stands Skype’s failure to acknowledge a widespread fault merely smacks of incompetence; a very dangerous thing for a Telecoms business.

Hello again,

1. It's an internal tracking system.

2. Yes it is.

3. The fault is intermittent rather than constant which makes it more difficult to trace. Nevertheless I accept your criticism and will ask for the issue to be placed on Heartbeat.

Bump.

This issue is still not fixed.

Norman, you said "The fault is intermittent rather than constant which makes it more difficult to trace"

Skype have now had an extra month to look at this, perhaps two months since I first became aware of the problem.

I am guessing your request for acknowledgement of this bug has been rejected, for reasons I can only speculate on.  But is there any chance of progress update on an actual fix?

Bump again.

The silence on this serious fault is becoming deafening.  And in religiously adhering to a strict code of silence on this matter, Skype is now actually starting to resemble a bunch of cheap scam artists peddling a story that has only the flimsiest basis in reality.

What a bunch of jokers.

Re: Hello? HELLO! Anybody Home at SkypIn trouble shooting?

I've had the problem for at least 6 months.  I have used Skype for years witout any incident and am now missing nearly all incoming calls as they are going to voicemail.  Have tried all of the "fixes" and the support is a joke.  Not sure what to do next....

Re: Hello? HELLO! Anybody Home at SkypIn trouble shooting?

I have been having issues with my Skype number as well, what is more frustrating is that people tell me they have left me a voicemail message which I never received! Sometimes people call me and it doesn't even ring in my computer, and then I receive a voicemail message. What is up with that?

In addition, Skype keeps telling me something is wrong with my settings, which is ridiculous. I am so upset by this, not to mention Skype doesn't even have a phone number that I can call to complain or to get proper customer service like it is supposed to be.

So I tried calling my skype in number and got a busy signal. So I immediately hop on the internet and type in 'my skype in number is busy' which eventually got me here. I hope my experience helps others as I had fiddled with the preferences and changed 'Receive calls to my Skype number from:' to 'contacts'.

I changed this to 'Anyone' and my number stopped ringing busy. I changed it back to contacts and added the number I was dialing from and it rang through. So for the people that are in my situation, check your preferences. Make sure 'Receive calls to my skype number from:' is set to 'Anyone' if you want people outside of your contacts to reach you.
