Having Trouble Installing

I have been trying to re-install Skype because I could not get my microphone to work with the program on my new laptop.  I download the program and I click install, it then asks me what language I want it in, then it says wait a few minutes (my computer has an i5 with 6 gb of memory and a 5400 rpm hdd) so it should only (and only took a few minutes in the past).  I try closing it, but the program seems to be frozen.  Any suggestions?  What can I do?

I have the same issue.  Been trying for days to reinstall with the same result.  And my Skype credit expires in three days!
