Fast Flipping Picture from my webcam when using SKYPE

Dear People,

When I use Skype with my Logitech C910 HD Camera and HP Elitebook the image is sometimes flipping upside down en back (very fast), and at the same time the picture-in-picture of myself is wider than when it does not flip upside down...

For the rest the WebCam works fine, very good picture quality but the flipping-thing is very annoying ofcourse for the people I Skype with...

Thx.

Re: Fast Flipping Picture from my webcam when using SKYPE

I'm having the same issue of rapid picture flipping & picture-in-picture width changing. I'm using a Logitech C270 HD webcam; pc running XP.

Did you ever find the cause or a solution?

Cheers

Les

Is it the video of your conversation partner that is flipping or the picture-in-picture?

Hi,

Thanks    It's the picture-in-picture that's flipping (which my conversation partner sees too on their screen)

Have you the latest version of Skype (5.8.0.156) installed?

Are your system specificationssuitable for HD 720p video? See this:

[ Edited ]

Hi,

Yes - latest version of Skype installed

PC - Windows XP SP3 fully up to date; Intel Pentium 3.4 GHz processor. 3.25GB RAM (4GB installed but XP only addrsses 3.25 I beleive)

Seems the higher specs are only required for Logitech's own 'Vid HD' calling software which I've not installed as using Skype instead. Lower specs only appear to require:

  • 1 GHz
  • 512 MB RAM or more

So all should be OK?

Thanks

I’m not sure, but actually a single core Pentium processor might still not be capable of HD 720p video. As you can see on the Logitech site, the requirements are 2.4 GHz Intel  Core 2 Duo.

Hmm - They do quote lower specs too, presumably for non-HD calls??

Perhaps I'll need to clarify this with Logitech...
