Error on Skype stat

Hi,

This is an error window I get when running Skype. I have tried reinstall/compete uninstall, deleting temp files, ... Nothing helps. The machine is Windows 7 64bit, and has some Microsoft development tools installed. Any advice?

Make sure that your Windows is not set to run in Debug mode. Open System Configuration (msconfig.exe). Click on the Boot tab and then on the “Advanced options” button. No debug options should be selected.

Debug mode and all debug settings are off. I just double-checked it.

Open Windows Event Viewer -> Custom Views -> Administrative Events. Look for any recent error or warning messages. You can copy and paste here the text from the General tab.

Hi,

I just found what the problem is. I am developing a DirectShow capture filter that is acting as a capture device, and when the filter debug build is registered it causes this error (probably due to some debug code in the filter itself). I have unregistered it and now Skype works. Thanks for your help and sorry for the inconvenience.

Skype actively tries to thwart all attempts to reverse engineer

This was NOT an attempt to reverse engineer. I marked my own reply as a solution as it actually was one.

my post was not meant to suggest that anyone was attempting to reverse engineer Skype, but rather only mentioned because Skype will recognize when such tools are in place and will refuse to run in many cases
