Re: Disabling Skype Home autostart

[ Edited ]

Skype is great when it's minimalistic. Not so great when it starts to force itself on me. As of last year Skype is a fat man sitting on my face instead of a sleek phone in my pocket.

Disable home autostart. Please.

Re: Disabling Skype Home autostart

Like everyone else on the planet who runs one of the later versions of Skype, I am truely disgusted with the change Skype did to open this stupid Home window and Skype window when Skype first starts.

When a Windows system boots up, there should be NO OPEN WINDOWS!!  It is mind bogglingly stupid of Skype to do this.  I'll be encouraging my company to ditch Skype and change products soon.  Despite the massive number of complaints it seems Skype just ignore their users.  Unfortunately they used to do this before Microsoft bought them.

Re: Disabling Skype Home autostart

I moved back to version 4.2, also I started to migrate my group to Google+ for video chat. I really don't like what happens with Skype recently, such as no video chat on Symbian phone, Android tablet, and etc. It is sad to move away from Skype as an early adopter of Skype.

Re: Disabling Skype Home autostart

If you hate this enough to look for a solution, but not enough to find and install an outdated version of Skype, I recommend using the Feedback tab that is in the Skype Home window every time it comes up to complain about it. Obviously a flood of outrage on the support network isn't helping, maybe a flood of official negative feedback will.

Re: Disabling Skype Home autostart

The Skype Home autostart is so annoying! I was an early adopter of Skype (I first downloaded it in 2003, Back at that time there were fewre than 3 million downloads...) and now I'm seriously considering changing to other VoiP solution. It's a disrespect with the users.

There should be a way to prevent the window to pop up against our will.

Re: Disabling Skype Home autostart

Another early adopter here - happy for years then suddenly... it's all gone like MSN did!

What's with the forced display of the Home window? The Facebook logo? The daft 4-arrow cursor? "Mood messages" from contacts showing as recent events so there's no distinction between an IM received and someone updating their status?

Please see this is the wrong direction!

(I've already had to dump it from my phone because it kept logging in & out and gave no way to switch off the login sound.)

Re: Disabling Skype Home autostart

[ Edited ]

Ok I've just upgraded Skype and I ended up with 4 windows! I closed one and another opened!

Tidying my desktop as we love to do I narrowed them down to do the main screen which I think has also got worse.  I had to do a quick reboot and it's back with this Skype Home crap which does NOTHING for me, nothing at all.  Instead i have some profile pics of people staring at me until I have to close it.  One of the pics is an ex-girlfriend, now who wants that has a default pic staring you in the face?! haha!

Anyway, it's stupid and if it is to stay then for **bleep** sake make it an option to remove it from startup.

Other things I hate in life by the way...

Facebook integration on everything you look at, even when it really doesn't need it!

Like buttons or "plus 1" buttons.

Americans displaying Google ads on .co.uk when they can't ship to the UK?

I better go now before type loads of stuff.  Byee!

Re: Disabling Skype Home autostart

I'm also sick of the home window and the fact I can not clear the stupid "add a profile photo" window either. I'm currently writing myself a small app that launches Skype, hooks the windows and destroys them so I don't have to bother! Being a software dev really is a bonus sometimes. :(y):

Re: Disabling Skype Home autostart

You cannot even leave feedback as every time you try it says you are not connected when I assure you I am. I used to be a programmer and it certainly would not take much code to be written to  make all of the users happy again
