Deleting a contact mobile number

I have a contact in my address book for which the mobile number is incorrect. As this is the first mobile number in the list I understand it cannot be deleted but is inherited from the contact. My view is in the attachment called "caller's view" I had the contact open his account info and send me screenshot of the mobile number he has set up and this is attached ("Called number account info"). It is a different mobile phone number to the one that appears in my address book. I have obscured details of the number but you can tell from last 4 digits they are different. So where does the wrong number, the one ending 2142, come from and how can i delete it? Thanks

admittedly this looks a bit strange

on your side, if you hover your mouse pointer over the mobile number, to the right do you see an icon that looks like a pencil?

No , if i hover the mouse over the ..2142 number in my address book no pencil or any other option appears. I want to delete it as that number is no longer in use by the contact.

has the number ending in 2142 EVER meant anything to this contact?

if not and you are 100% sure that the Skype Name is the correct one for this contact, then you may need to resport this to Skype Customer Support

how long has this person been on your contact list and how long since you BOTH signed out and back in?

Yes, this number ending in ..42 was once the number that the other account diverted to if the skype user was not online.
