Creative Live! inPerson HD + Skype 5.5.x/5.6.x

[ Edited ]

Using a "Creative Live! inPerson HD"-webcam (which is btw certified by Skype!) and Skype 5.5 Beta there is no problem. But since the release version of Skype 5.5, everytime the webcam switches from 160x120 (with software encoding) to 320x240 (with H.264 hardware encoding) Skype completly crashes. This happens everytime on two different computers with the above certified webcam and Skype release version. So clearly Skype tweaked the video engine to death...

If you are using Win7 Please try this:

Open Windows Event Viewer. Go to Custom Views -> Administrative Events. Look for the recent error messages. Click on any errors and post the details here if they happen at the time things fail.

Otherwise do this:

Using your Windows Control Panel:

Adminstrator Tools -> Event Viewer

Click on System and later Applications, do you see any errors logged during the times this happens, if so what errors ("If you click on the errors you can get more details and copy/paste them here")?

Also, please check times after you reboot to see if any errors are produced when you system is restarting.

Are you current with ALL Windows Updates and any Updates from your manufacturers web site for your system and any attached devices?

Stop Skype.

Be sure that Compatibility Mode is not enabled (right-click on Skype shortcut icon/launcher and select Properties >> Compatibility) - for Windows 7 users only.

Try to launch Skype.

Do you have all Windows updates and updates to any hardware devices by the manufacturers?

Re: Creative Live! inPerson HD + Skype 5.5.x

Installing 5.3.0.116 over 5.5.0.110 beta, it results in a working version.

Customer: "I found a bug in Windows 7!"

Developer: "For testing only, please install over what you have currently Windows 95."

Customer: "It results in a working version."

Developer: "Great!"

Customer: "..." :speechless:

---

This doesn't solve the problem with the release version of 5.5. For now I have a working 5.3 version (see above hint)...

Never said we were done yet, but it proves that a slightly older version is working.
