Crashing on call

My skype has just started to crash with I am taking calls, or I try to place one. I have reinstalled, and checked Compatibility settings to no solution. When I looked in Event viewer, I did find a couple of errors that are the same which relate to Skype:

Faulting module name: KERNELBASE.dll, version: 6.1.7601.17651,time stamp: 0x4e211319

I cannot update my skype either, since when I try, it just exits without updating. These problems have just started in the last hour of me using skype (I was on a VC and playing Crysis 2 at the time it first crashed)

Please try downloading/installing from here and choose the run or open option when prompted: http://download.skype.com/SkypeSetup.exe

If this fails, please delete your IE ("Internet Explorer") browser cache, cookies and temp files and try again using a IE browser window, even if IE is not your default browser.

As in update, I mean via skype's built-in check for updates, and I have already downloaded skype, uninstalled, and installed
