Cannot voice chat from Viet Nam to Texas America

Hi all,

I live in Viet Nam and I am a new user of Skype.

Why can't I voice chat with my friend in Texas Austin, America while he can do with his friend in America and I can also do with my friend in Viet Nam.

Can anyone please help me?

Do I need to pay fee, register or whatever in order to chat voice (PC to PC) with a person in America?

Skype-to-Skype calls, audio only or video, are free.  There is no fee.

What version of Skype do you have installed?  Click on Help > About Skype for the speciific version number.

And what actually happens when you try to make a Skype-to-Skype call to that friend?

My version is 5.9.0.114.. I don't know the vesion of my friend's Skype.

I pressed the Video Call button and saw the pending for answer screen. But that's all, I cannot see any changes in the screen as well as any sound from my friend.

And so is my friend in Texas.

Of course we still can chat through typing.

It sounds like you're doing everything right and it should work.

When you're exchanging Instant Messages with your friend, ask him to click on Help > About Skype and report what version he has.  (You do have the latest version, by the way.)

Also, you might try and audio only call to see if that will go through.  Click the Call button instead of Video Call and see if that works.
