Cannot connect to skype

Hi there, I set up another skype id for my husband, he then clicked on the link he was sent in his email to download skype, forgetting that we already have it downloaded, he just needs to sign in. Anyway, since then we can now not connect to skype at all, it won't allow us to sign in. Normal web surfing is fine. Any advice please?

Hi, after much fiddling around,I discovered that there was a block on the firewall and have now unblocked it and it is now working. Thanks for your help.

What exactly happens when you are trying to login?

It just thinks for a long time and then tells us that skype cannot connect.

McAfee is the anti virus. I'm not sure what the firewall is, how do I check which one it is? Thanks

You need to configure McAfee’s Firewall to allow Skype traffic or completely disable it.

That hasn't helped.

 

On the skype icon on the bottom tool bar there is a small greenish cloud shape covering it, does this shed any light onto why its not working?

This just means that Skype is not connected to Internet.

 

Try to reset all Skype settings.

 

Quit Skype or use Windows Task Manager to kill any Skype.exe process. Go to Windows Start and in the Search/Run box type %appdata%, press Enter or click the OK button. The Windows File Explorer will pop up. There locate a folder named “Skype”. Rename this folder to something different, e.g. Skype_old. Restart Skype.

 

N.B. If needed, you will still be able to re-establish your call and chat history. All data is still saved in the Skype_old folder.
