Can't install skype 5.8

When I tried to upgrade my skype I couldn't succed in it so I decided to uninstall but here comes the problem. I've downloaded the last version of Skype and now I just can't install it again.

I am so frustrated because they have no support.  The chat feature won't work for me.  I just want my **bleep** money back!!!

i manage to install the skype but not possible to open it i tried may times but still not able to open it

What happens when you try to open Skype?  How are you trying to open/run it and what are the symptoms when you do?

Hi G4Pilut, [interesting ID] I am currently using Skype V5.5.0.124] every time I log in, this message to upgrade takes over, I have allowed this to upgrade twice, I have tried to remove via the control panel, the Skype to Call option was able to be deleted, the install ofSkype was not. I did have a similar problem with Adobe Acrobat Reader but managed to get around that [long winded process] both Applications came up with error, 'invalid Drive E' Skype does have an error code 1603 but I have yet to find that.

I did download both the full install and the Msi installation-both came up with the 'invalid Drive E' which appears to be a Registry reference to possibly an install from a USB Pen Drive. I think I will have to search of XP [SP3] Registry and edit this 'install' location.

Thanks for the two links, they are useful in 99.9% cases but not mine.
