Please help! I have been through these boards and tried all the suggestions to no avail!
Can anyone suggest what to do next?
I have never had skype before and use Windows Vista.
I can download, but during installation the error code comes up.

The error code 1603 is just saying that installation failed. Before receiving this error message, you might have received another saying what has failed.
You should also open Windows Event Viewer -> Custom Views -> Administrative Events. Look there for any error messages with time stamp corresponding with the crash.

Go to Windows Start and in the Run box enter regedit and then press OK button. This will open Windows Registry Editor. Locate there the mentioned key and look for what the Source List refers to.

This question is asked in abundance. I saw it more than once. However, you can go to Google and search for help.
