windows 7 32-bit skype problem

hi,

i am encountering a problem with skype. i am running on windows 7 32-bit, and i have the most updated version of skype.

it has been working fine the last few days until today. today, i logged on my computer, and skype had problems starting up. i restarted my computer, and then skype managed to log-on. i called a friend, and after awhile, it disconnected, and skype quit automatically. i tried opening skype again, and it did not open.

it would be glad if i could receive a step-by-step guide on how to deal with this problem as soon as possible.

thanks and appreciate it.

Re: windows 7 32-bit skype problem

Try to reset Skype settings.

Quit Skype or use Windows Task Manager to kill any Skype.exe process. Go to Windows Start and in the Search/Run box type %appdata%, press Enter or OK button. The Windows File Explorer will popup. Locate there a folder with the name Skype. Rename this folder to something different, e.g. Skype_old. Restart Skype.

N.B. If needed, you will still be able to re-establish your call history. All data are still saved in the Skype_old folder.

Re: windows 7 32-bit skype problem

Open Windows Event Viewer -> Custom Views -> Administrative Events. Look for any recent error messages with timestamp corresponding to Skype crash.

You may first try to update to the latest version of Skype (5.8.0.158 ).

The solution provided has not resolved my problem yet.

I removed everything of the old version, and then I installed the newest version.

This error appeared on the event log:

I have also been experiencing problems with a program called Zune, and I was wondering if you could please help me out with this as well:

Re: windows 7 32-bit skype problem

Sorry, but I know nothing about the Zune program. However, just from what everyone can find on the Web (Google), I can see that Zune is  using video, audio drivers and Internet connection. Just like Skype. Your problem might thus be here.

Actually, what you can try is to use Windows Restore to revert your system to a point where everything was still functioning. This was the solution in a very similar case (the same error message) here:

Re: windows 7 32-bit skype problem

I do not know how to perform this act.

For the past few days, I have seen many posts similar to mine.

Skype needs to come up with a solution....
