"Stop running this script?" every time I open Skype and ONLY Skype.

I'm having trouble launching Skype.

It takes several minutes to launch while slowing down my computer in the process, and then it doesn't launch. Instead the Skype screen is all white and I get this pop up window:

"Windows Update

Stop running this script?

A script on this page is causing your web browser to run slowly. If it continues to run, your computer might become unresponsive."

Re: "Stop running this script?" every time I open Skype and ONLY Skype.

What version of Windows are you on (XP, Vista, Windows 7)?

Do you have all the latest Windows Updates for your Windows system installed?

What is the version of Internet Explorer installed on your computer?

In Internet Explorer go to Help -> About Internet Explorer.

P.S. Please, don’t say that you are not using Internet Explorer. This is irrelevant. Skype depends on Internet Explorer.

Windows Vista.

Regarding having the latest windows updates, I thought I did but I just checked and apparently there's 2 essential available updates so I'm doing those now.

IE 9.

This update is taking forever. We're going on 2 to 3 hours now.

It's still installing update 1.

Hey guys. So, this update has been installing for roughly 15 hours with little progress. Is this normal?

What Antivirus or any other security applications are installed on your computer?

What type of Internet connection are you on?

You can test your connection speed using this test site:

http://www.speedtest.net

Try to reset all Interenet Explorer settings:

Re: "Stop running this script?" every time I open Skype and ONLY Skype.

Okay. Windows 7 SP 1 update failed, error code 80041016
Security update for Microsoft .NET Framework 4 on XP, Server 2003, Vista, Windows 7, Server 2008 x86 failed, error code 80242007

Googled the first error code and found this: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/troubleshoot-problems-installing-service-pack

which lead me to this: http://www.microsoft.com/en-ca/download/default.aspx

My question is...would you happen to know what I'm supposed to be downloading here? Because on #2 of the first link, it simply states to "click download" on that webpage...and there is no single download option as you can see, there's a bunch of individual updates.

Thank you for your help my friend.

Answering your questions:
I have Microsoft Security essentials, and high speed wireless.

I checked out http://www.speedtest.net/
My download speed is 9.39 mbps and upload is 1.93 mbps and my ping is 11ms. No idea what any of this means.

I resetted my IE as you said.

Re: "Stop running this script?" every time I open Skype and ONLY Skype.

Now I’m confused. In this post,

http://community.skype.com/t5/Windows-desktop-client/quot-Stop-running-this-script-quot-every-time-I...

you were saying that your Windows is Vista, but you are downloading updates for Windows 7.

Have you tried to run the troubleshooter as instructed here?
