"Problem with playback device."

I have been using Skype for the last month to talk to my husband who is working out of town. Last night and this morning it wont work. When I try to answer a video call or send a video call it drops it, and then displays the message "problem with playback device." I don't know what that means. My internet is working fine and so is my camera.

That error message typically means Skype is having trouble interacting with the device that is set in audio settings.

 

Click on Tools > Options > Audio settings.   Click on the pull down arrow next to the Speakers box to see if there are any other choices available.  If there are, try each one and when each is selected, test it by clicking on the green button to the right of the selection box.

 

If you find a selection that tests properly, save that change and try a call again.

I have the same problem. I only have one device on that list, and it was working fine until today. What else can I try?

Updating your audio driver from HP?  :bigsmile:

 

Just throwing that in, since you reported in the other thread you started, that's what you did and it worked.  That may help someone else reading this in the future.

I had the latest driver update and still had the issue. I was able to make calls by closing Google Chrome browser. It seems there is a conflict. Hope this helps.
