Video Calls Keep Dropping

We keep losing video chats sessions.  Sometimes the connection doesn't go through while at  other times we lose it sometime during the conversation.  The internet connection appears to be good.  It does not appear to be on the other end as far as the computer is concerned.  This has only started recently within the last couple weeks.  Anyone else having these issues or know what to do to alleviate this issue?

Re: Video Calls Keep Dropping

Do you get any error message from Skype when the call is dropped?

What version of Skype are each of you running?  Get the version number by clicking on Help > About Skype.

During a call, you can click on Call > Call Technical Info.  If you copy and paste the results here it may shed some light on what's causing your problem.

Re: Video Calls Keep Dropping

this is my 2nd webcam as i thought it was a bad webcam. i now have a microsoft webcam. spoke to them and my computer company and it is not that. called my internet provider and have to pay them for help.

i have high speed internet broadband and my windows is vista and the webcam handles vista and it should be working but the video call goes through and within almost a split second we are disconnected (and frozen as well). It says YOUR INTERNET CONNECTION HAS BEEN LOST but I am still connected to the internet. Video seems to be the problem but when i check from my end it is perfect and i do not need it to see and talk to myself (not funny). Something to do with my firewall maybe according to some of the things to try. I downloaded the most current SKYPE.

I just might have to call my internet provider and pay them as they can remotely take over and see what's wrong. Any help will be appreciated.

Happy Holiday

Thank you.

Re: Video Calls Keep Dropping

What anti-spyware applications (other than Defender)?

What third-party firewall (if any)?

Check Proxy settings

In Internet Explorer, Go to, Tools >> Internet Options... >> Connections>> Lan settings , Use a proxy server... if it had been ticked, then... Remove that check. Make sure automatically detect settings is enabled. (Marked)

Run Skype and Check connection settings

In Skype Click Tools >> Click Connection options...

type any port between 1024 and 65535

check this settings "use port 80 and 443.....incoming connections"

... if it had been ticked, then... Remove that check

disable uPnP.

Exit Skype : From the system tray >> right click on the skype icon and click "Quit"

Restart Skype and sign in.
