I am completely unable to open up skype. It doesn't matter if I click the shortcut, or go directly to programs...
So I tried uninstalling it and I keep getting error messages.
First off, even though skype isn't open, I get this popup:
I've tried both options and both still fail.
Then after that, I get this message:
And hitting retry doesn't do any good because I just get sent in a circle of not having sufficient privileges and hitting retry.
Anyone able to help me?
Solved! Go to Solution.
Try disabling the Skype Update service.
Click Start >> Run >> Type services.msc /s
Scroll down and Right click on the Skype Updater and click on Properties and in the Startup type box select Disabled. Click Apply and OK.
Restart your computer.
Try to start your Windows in "Safe mode".
- repeatedly tap F8 as you boot.
Now try to uninstall the Skype program from Control Panel.
So tried uninstalling it in safe mode like you said but got this message
But I tried not in safe mode and it uninstalled without a hitch! Thank you.
So do you think it's safe to re-download skype?

Yes. Safe mode does not load the windows installer service. Are you disabled the skype update service? Uninstall skype from control panel first in Normal mode. Then redownload skype with this link:

im having the same problems but evertime I try to open or close my skype I get error code 2503 and 2502
Click Start >> Run >> Type %windir%
Right click on installer folder and select properties
Click on security tab.
Make sure the everyone group has read and execute, list folder contents, and read set to allow.
