So, me and my roommate are connected to a wireless router. I play this game called League of Legends and when he isn't speaking on Skype, the game runs fine and I don't have any lags, but the second he starts speaking on Skype, the game starts lagging like crazy, 1500-2000ms (when usually its 50-60ms) of delay. Even when I am downloading something while playing LoL I don't get that high lags (maybe around 100ms when downloading). How can I "fix" this, or atleast tell me what is the issue, why does Skype take up so much speed..? Thanks in advance.
Sorry for my bad English, it ain't my native language.
First, let me say your English is great. I never would've guessed it's not your native language.
Skype video calls do take a fair amount of bandwidth. It takes that much for good video quality. Skype's suggestion for bandwidth use can be found here:
If you're both on wifi you might try connecting to your router by Ethernet, if you can. That may help.
You might also run some tests at www.speedtest.net. What up and download speed and latency do you get on your machine when your roomie isn't on Skype, and what is it when he is on a Skype call?
Other than that, I don't know that there's much else you can do if your Internet connection is loaded down by a Skype call.
