Skype sound comes through Headset, other sounds through Laptop

Hello there, I started using skype last week, and I was using a turtle beach headet (mic and headphones) while making a call which works fine. Now I wanted to play a game (diablo 3) with my friends while being able to chat through skype. I used to hear the game sound through my headset, but when I start a chat with my friends, I can chat with them through headset, but the game sound starts coming from the laptop speaker instead of the headset. How can I fix this issue?

Re: Skype sound comes through Headset, other sounds through Laptop

is your headset USB-based?

if so then it sounds like the Windows default output sound device is the sound card that is driving your internal laptop speakers

change the Windows default speaker device to be the same as selected by Skype, namely the turtle beach headset

when not using the headset and you wish sound of games etc. to come from your internal speakers, then re-select the system-based audio hardware that is being used now
