Skype has always been a little spazzy for me, but the issues have always seemed to fix themselves. I'm having an issue with my IMs. When both myself and my contact are offline, I can send messages and they are definitely sent (there is no little spinning circle next to them with the word "pending" beside it). I am fairly certain my contact is receiving my messages and trying to send me messages in return, but I am not getting them. The little "show when I am typing" icon doesn't even show up. I don't think this is an issue with the online/offline messaging, as I have been able to IM with people who are offline before. I've tried quitting, logging back in, uninstalling, reinstalling...everything. Can anyone help? Thank you!
Try to reset skype settings
Exit Skype : From the system tray >> right click on the skype icon and click "Quit Skype"
Click Start >> Run Type: %appdata% Rename folder "Skype" to "Old_Skype"
Note: You will need your password to re-log on, and re-set any options from default
both of you must me online when message to be sent. skype does not support offline messaging.
This did not work, unfortunately. I may just give it a few days and wait to see if the problem corrects itself. Thank you very much though!
Most likely you are mistaking the Offline status with Invisible status. When you or your contact is in Invisible mode, messaging is available, but definitely not in Offline mode. Be aware that the status icon is exactly the same in Invisible and Offline modes.
So when will I be able to view these messages? Usually I get them when I go back online, but I've tried going offline and back online multiple times and I'm still not getting anything.
Anyway, it's been brung up several times and the Support team never takes notice and the new skype owners haven't bothered to address the problem either, despite petitions and lengthy forum posts.
After skype 5 started, skype took a nose dive in quality and usebility.
My solution is to download an older version of skype.
