Skype lowers my volume.

Ok, so when someone calls me or I join a call or someone messages me. My skype lowers my volume, (disturbing the youtube videos I always watch) I know its supposed to happen and I know how to turn everything back up, but I'd like it to just not do it. Is there a way to disable it?

Re: Skype lowers my volume.

it's not Skype that is doing this, it is a setting in Windows 7

right-click on the speaker icon in the system tray, click Playback devices, then the Communications tab

select Do Nothing and click OK

Re: Skype lowers my volume.

I have checked all the things needed. when I do a check with echo/sound test service, the volume starts fine then goes down to nothing. I have nothing else running and it does not seem to be win7 causing it. I have uninstalled and reinstalled it with the same results, any ideals?
