As soon as I open skype, it crashes. I have deleted the shared.xml file, I tried renaming the skype folder and having it recreate it when it opens, I did a full uninstall and got rid of all the files, then reinstalled. I even tried going back to a previous version. The first time it crashed, I wasn't doing anything. Skype was just running in the background and it crashed. When I do a new install, it doesn't even go through the installation process it seems.
This is what it says after it crashes.
Files that help describe the problem:
Solved! Go to Solution.
Open Windows Event Viewer -> Custom Views -> Administrative Events. Look for any recent error messages with timestamp corresponding to Skype crash. You may copy and paste here the text from the General tab.
Most likely the problem is with your Internet Explorer.
Try to uninstall IE9 and let Windows to revert to the previous IE8 version.
In order to uninstall IE9 you should go to Windows Control Panel -> Program and Features -> View installed updates -> Microsoft Windows -> Windows Internet Explorer 9.
You should also consider to update your Skype to the latest 18.104.22.168 version.
Better and more simple solution is to avoid skype 6.22 and install 6.0 version instead. That was the only solution that has worked for me.
Internett is full of people complaining that Skype 6.22 makes their computer crash and skype is doing nothing about it...
