Before my last pc died(windows xp service pack 3), skype ran like a dream. With my new pc(windows 7 64 bit) I am having some problems.
I have downloaded the latest version of Skype. This is where the problems begin. It takes absolutely ages to login, then when I try to connect a call it shows me ringing my contact but will not connect, then I cannot cancel the call, then skype crashes(skype not responding) and then when I exit skype I cannot browse the web(using windows explorer 9). Then I have to reboot my pc and then it works fine again until I try Skype.
Any one have any ideas how to solve this ?
Any info would be appreciated.

Is there a known problem in running skype on windows 7 64 bit ?
I'm beginning to think that my registry may be corrupt.....
try with this Portable version of Skype
I now feel a bit silly.I have tried most of the solutions that have been offered here and I still had no joy. However, I have now just figured out what the problem is and resolved it.
It was my logitech web cam pro 5000 that was the culprit. It isn't really compatible with windows 7 prof 64 bit. I uninstalled it and re-installed it with the generic windows usb drivers and it works Ok with Skype, although with much reduced feature enhancements.
Off to pc world for an upgrade tomorrow.
Thanks for your time and help to all who responded.
