Re: Skype and Windows 8.1 and camera

You can uninstall current version of Skype from the control Panel and you can install Special Version.

http://www.skype.com/go/getskype-sse

and disable automatic updating of Skype.

In Skype, Tools >> Options >> Advanced >> Automatic updates >> Click on Turn off automatic updates >> Save Changes.

Tamim

Re: Skype and Windows 8.1 and camera

It is an old version (6.1).

Please post event viewer log in your very next reply.

Click Start >> Run >> Type eventvwr.msc /s
Custom Views >> Administrative Events
Look for any error message related to Skype crash.

Hi

What is even more interesting:

Skype options - Audio Settings - Microphone I can find MICROPHONE (HP WEBCAM HD-4110)

So, seems that skype can see my peripherals but why cannot find same camera in Video Settings?

I am using latest SKYPE 6.7 ....

Re: Skype and Windows 8.1 and camera

Hi,

Which exact model of webcam are you using?
Do you have the latest camera drivers installed?
Can you please provide logs as described in this link https://support.skype.com/en/faq/FA12321/how-do-i-create-log-files in the Skype for Windows desktop (XP, Vista, 7, section and send them to kmudrovcic at hotmail.com

Thank you

Re: Skype and Windows 8.1 and camera

I'm having exact same problem. After updating my Sony Vaio Duo 13 to Windows 8.1, Skype desktop (latest version) only recognizes the REAR camera, not the front camera. Skype Metro finds and uses the front camera with no issues.

When I download and run the older version of Skype Desktop (suggested in a reply), it too just crashes.

How can I get Skype Desktop to recognize the built-in front camera?  The RT Camera app sees it, Skype RT sees it.

I need to use Skype Desktop version because I use the share screen function often.

Re: Skype and Windows 8.1 and camera

exactly the same issue here: old skype crashes, metro works fine, desktop with only rear camera.

Also those of you using the fast access login on vaio duo 13: the same issue there as well. only the rear camera is seen since 8.1 update. I also testet other softwares: none of them having problem using front camera, just skype and fastaccess so far...

Very curious if the problem persists after official launch of 8.1 later this month. Still, if someone has a solution till then, please post.
