Skype was working fine yesterday and now it will not work at all. Windows keeps giving me a message that the program is not working correctly and forces it to shut down. ANy advice??

Re: Skype Not Working On My Computer

The problem is the at&t ad. It causes the crash. You can wait till they fix it. Or download beta 5.7

Download and Reinstall the new Skype 5.7 beta version. See if it helps.

If not resolve this issue, then

Please do a Skype reset:

1. Ensure that "Show hidden files and folders" is switched on.

Click Start and then Run Type "control folders" and click OK. In the View tab, ensure that Show hidden files and folders is enabled

2. Exit Skype : From the system tray >> right click on the skype icon and click "Quit Skype"

3. Click Start >> Run Type: %appdata% Rename folder "Skype" to "Old_Skype"

4. Re-run Skype

Check if the issue persists

Re: Skype Not Working On My Computer

Try to delete the config.xml file used by skype.

Quit Skype.
Go to Windows Start and in the Search/Run box type %appdata%\skype, press Enter.
Open the folder with the name of your Skype account. You will find there a config.xml file. Delete this file.
Re-run Skype.

Note: You will need your password to re-log on, and re-set any options from default

Tamim

What do you see when in Skype you go to Tools -> Options -> Audio settings and

Tools -> Options > Video settings?

make sure that your mic or webcam plugged in properly

Try This.

Here is a Mr. FixIT:

Hardware devices are not working or are not detected in Windows

Visit the page and click the run now button.

Restart your computer.

Now, try running skype.
