I am having major problems with audio when using Skype. Other users report that my voice is severely distorted. When I use the Echo testing service I also get a distorted sound. Almost like the voice is slowing down or getting muffled periodically. However, when I test my microphone using the stock sound recorder accessory, I don't notice this problem. So it doesn't seem to be a hardware issue.
I am using a Toshiba Satellite a355-6931 Laptop with the built in microphone and running Windows 7, 64 bit. The drivers appear to be up to date and I have uninstalled/reinstalled Skype. Also updated all Microsoft software updates.
I am not sure how long this problem has existed. I don't use this laptop often but the kids report that it has existed for some time.
I"m sorry. Where should I look for "tools" The only way I know to get to the Microphone is through control panel - sound - and then I click on the "recording" tab. When I do that, there is only one device to select. It says Microphone. Reatek High Definition Audio, default device. There is a configure and a properties button.
I have been having distortion issues with Skype for several weeks now. It is impossible to find an answer online, and there is not any other option. I have tried all of the suggestions I can find in order to solve the problem, but I have had no success. I use this software to work from home, so it is very frustrating that I am having distortion issues. My internet speeds are well above the requirements! Can someone please help??? Thanks!
